From Marco Polo Airport
Three ways, from the cheapest to the most comfortable.
- Bus to Piazzale Roma, then on foot. The ATVO express bus and ACTV line 5 (Aerobus) take 20–25 minutes to Piazzale Roma. From there it is a 10–12 minute walk, or water bus line 1 or 2 to San Tomà. This is the cheapest option.
- Alilaguna water bus. The orange line (Linea Arancio) crosses the lagoon and comes down the Grand Canal. Get off at Rialto or Ca’ Rezzonico, both about 10 minutes on foot from Fraivolti. It takes about an hour, but you arrive along the Grand Canal.
- Water taxi. The fastest and the most expensive: a private boat from the airport straight to San Tomà, a minute from the door. You don’t need to book it: the companies at the official rank are all the same and there are always taxis waiting.
From Santa Lucia station
About 12 minutes on foot. Before you arrive I send you a map link with the route. Or take water bus line 1 or 2 from Ferrovia to San Tomà.
By car
Cars stop at Piazzale Roma. Book a space in advance, especially at weekends and in summer: the Autorimessa Comunale or the Garage San Marco. Tronchetto is cheaper, and the People Mover takes you to Piazzale Roma in a couple of minutes. From Piazzale Roma it is about 10 minutes on foot.
When you arrive
- Fill in the online check-in before you travel. Italian law requires it for every guest, and it takes a couple of minutes.
- Tell me your arrival time at least 24 hours ahead.
- Check-in is from 3 pm, with a keypad code that I send you together with the directions.
- Arriving early or leaving late? Your bags can wait in the locked cabinet on the ground floor, at no charge.
- The Venice city tax is €4 per person per night, for the first 5 nights, paid on arrival.
- Bring luggage you can carry: almost every bridge has steps, including the ones between Piazzale Roma and Fraivolti.
